Mid-Continent Public Library serves over 700,000 people with 30 branches in Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties. The library has over 3.4 million items available to everyone with an MCPL library card. Over 51,000 of those items are located in the 7,244 square foot Weston Branch. The branch also has four public computers, programs for children and adults, and access to MCPL’s nationally recognized online resources. Branch manager Rachel Rafuse and the rest of the Weston Branch staff are eager to assist patrons of all ages.
MCPL specifically offers many small business resources including online access to demographic tools, business research, legal documents, and more. Reference librarians are available to businesses for one-on-one training opportunities or to demonstrate resources to professional and social groups.
Events for children and adults include storytimes, book clubs, how-to programs, crafts, learning opportunities, music, and other entertainment. These programs take place at all MCPL branches.
The library constantly pushes to move into the digital age. Patrons can now download eBooks for eReaders and smartphones, or downloadable audiobooks for use on iPods, mp3 players, and other devices. Students can access tutors through a chat service on the library’s website.
For information on any of these services, contact the branch at 816-640-2874 or visit the library online at www.mymcpl.org.
